Plan to Make More Money Writing

Basically, I would like to make more money and up the ante on my career. Here is a basic plan of what I intend to do about it:

  • Adhere to a schedule of writing four hours a day on client's projects, two hours a day on my own projects, and 2 hours a day doing planning, paperwork, and marketing. I have been tracking my time spent on business, and it is 4-5 hours a day. I am making part time wages for this reason!
  • Write faster- The faster I write, the more I'll make. If I can get more done during those 6 hours a day of writing, I will be golden.
  • Personal website - I think it is essential to put together a great personal website. I have one stated, but I need to update it.
  • Quality of work- Plain and simple- if I am not engaged in the project, it will take me twice as long to complete. Only accept work I will enjoy so I can get immersed.

Hi Katherine -
How is it working out? Planning and strategizing your writing time is a good way to go - that way you know what you want to take and what's not worth the time or won't propel you forward.
For me, I have a problem with writing faster while keeping the quality... Some writers can master this, but I'm not one of them and the ones I knock out in no time aren't my best work, which is why the low pay, high turnover just don't work for me... besides, I wanted to be a writer because I love to write - is low pay a good enough reason to beat that out of me?

I hope it's working out well for you. Let me know how it's going.

Hi Merry thanks for stopping in. I will keep you posted! I have been in transition for a while, but I find that while I build up my next phase, I still need to take on the same kind of work! But, at least I like writing and the writing work I am not fond of sure beats the alternative.
